WWE NXT REVIEW (May 29, 2013 Edition)

The Wyatt Family (Eric Rowan & Luke Harper) vs. Travis Tyler & Sawyer Fulton was a good showcase for the Wyatt Family. Luke Harper is a monster. And I say that as a compliment.

Next Week: A tournament to crown the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion will begin! NXT & WWE female wrestlers are eligible to enter. My money is on one of the best wrestlers, female or male in NXT, Paige.

Emma still can’t dance…. and neither can most wrestling fans. Hey, it’s hard to learn how to dance when women won’t date you… I kid! Emma is over, she’s unique, and in a few years she could be a hell of a talent. Emma has quite a bit of potential. Then again, so did Audrey Marie.

Sylvester Lefort (an eccentric Frenchman attired like Rico) led the Good Ol’ (Blues Brothers) Boys (Band) Garrett Dylan & Scott Dawson to the ring to face Jake Carter (Vader’s son) & Brandon Traven.

Good match. Dylan & Dawson looked good. An old school Southern tag team is just what NXT/WWE and pro wrestling in general need. Dylan is clearly a big Stan Hansen fan. I can dig it!

Fun fact: Garrett Dylan is actually the son of acclaimed actor and legendary country music singer Kris Kristofferson. That’s just cool!

Big E Langston squashed Derrick Bateman. Goddamn, Langston is super strong. FIVE!!

Next week: The NXT Tag Team Champions The Wyatt Family defend their gold against Kassius Ohno & Corey Graves. Should be a donnybrook!

NXT Battle Royal

The main event was a Battle Royal to determine the Number One Contender for Big E Langston’s NXT Championship. I’m not sure if that’s actually a good thing, as Langston is UNSTOPPABLE. 18 men. Over-the-top-rope eliminations. When only one man remains in the ring he wins. Simple. Big E was on commentary for the main event. I hope WWE turns him and we get a monster babyface run similar to how he’s booked in NXT. Big E is a natural good guy.

He may not be able to speak clearly (it’s not his fault he’s Welsh), but Mason Ryan can pick you up and throw you 18-feet, no problem. After eliminating 7 NXT Superstars, Ryan was outsmarted (not an astonishing feat) by Neville and the battle royal became that much more interesting.

Ohno & Graves aligned to bounce massive Connor O’Brian. Only to be immediately bar tossed by the cagey Bray Wyatt. Wyatt was left with his nemesis Bo Dallas & another man he is not exactly a friend with in Adrian Neville. Shockingly, Neville put Wyatt away after hitting a devastating enzuigiri and dumping Wyatt’s limp carcass him to the floor. And then there were 2.

Adrian Neville & Bo Dallas went at it like the NXT title shot was the biggest honour in the world. The end sequence was a thriller. I thought the wrong man won, but still, Dallas vs. Langston is an intriguing match-up.

This episode showed why NXT is still the best wrestling show on the planet. Believe that.

This was one hell of an enjoyable show!

Rating: 7.5/10
